Looks like government is taking full advantage of Social Media. The recent Google+ hang outs by planning commission and Finance Minister are one among many initiatives taken up by the government to engage with the citizens so as to bridge the gap that exists between government and citizens.. Planning commission also recently activated its twitter handle. It looks like government is exhaustively using social media to engage with citizens.

The next step in this direction is planning commission will hold a 32 hour hackathon in association with 12 premier institutions across India involving many youngsters on April 6th and 7th. This event calls for the participants to create visualizations, short movies, mobile apps etc. 

Also, Ahluwalia will for the first time will participate in a live interaction on Google Hangout on Friday on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Commission. The interaction will be from 1700 Hrs on Friday.
